During a Lok Sabha session, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, announced that both female and single male government employees can avail themselves of a child care leave period of 730 days.
Government employees, both single males and females, serving within civil services or holding posts associated with Union affairs, now have the opportunity to benefit from an extended child care leave (CCL) period. As per the regulations outlined in Rule 43-C of the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, they are entitled to avail a maximum of 730 days of CCL over the course of their service. This provision is designed to facilitate the care of their two eldest surviving children, with the age limit set at 18 years. Notably, there is no age constraint in cases involving differently-abled children, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and support for unique caregiving requirements. This step underlines a dedication to nurturing a harmonious work-life equilibrium and acknowledging the evolving caregiving responsibilities of government personnel.
